Fun Halloween & Fall Decor

Fall is the best time of the year! I love the cool brisk air, all of the wonderful smells, and the beautiful leaves changing colors. And most of all, I love to put out my fall decor! I have been busy making some things, and am excited to share them with you.
Here is my mantle, I left most of my normal decorations up and just added to it. I saw this cute little picture frame pumpkin on someones blog (can't remember whose). It was really easy to make. I just bought the pumpkin at the dollar store, cut it in half and hot glued it to a piece of scrapbook paper and framed it. Cute and easy.

Here is the little tree I made for Easter.  I just spray painted the branches black and added some spiders. I saw these cute Jack O Lanterns on the cover of Woman's Day or something. You will need: Empty jars, orange tissue paper, black paper and modge podge. I just cut the orange tissue paper into long strips and glued them on. I drew some cute little faces on the black paper and glued them on. Put some little candles in them and they are cute little luminary lights.

This is some of my old decor.

More old decor :)

I got this cute idea to use beans in the clear vases. I used black beans and died pinto beans orange. I should have used white beans to die and they would have turned out a lot better. Oh well next time :)

I still have a few things that I want to add and change, but for the now it works. Thanks for stopping by.

My $5 Desk & Chair

The other day I decided I wanted to put  a desk in my daughters room. So what do I do? I hunt on KSL that night for a cheap old desk, that I can redo. It only took me only a couple of minutes to find this desk and chair, and the best part...both for $5.00! I love it! I really don't even have to paint the desk, but I might just add a few things to it. The chair I definitely will paint! Stay tuned for the transformation! And remember to follow my blog! Thanks

An Oldie But A Goodie

This is something that I made a few years ago, but I really like it so I thought I would share it with you.
The first thing you are going to need is a basic wood frame. Then you can paint it whatever color you choose. I chose black, then sanded the edges and applied a little stain over it to make it look aged.

The next thing you need to do is cut a piece of bead board to go inside of the frame. (Sorry,  I couldn't take a picture of just the bead board, it was glued together.) You then want to either glue it in or put some little nails in to hold it better.
You could do lots of different things with this, you could add just a little star, but I really like the berry wreath and the star together.

I attached the wreath and star with a little nail, because it didn't hold very well with the hot glue.
Hope you like it. Thanks for looking!

Spring Mesh Wreath

Over on Kristen's Creations she has made these cute mesh wreaths. I love them! At first I was having a hard time finding the mesh,  I did see some in the wedding isle but they actually keep the mesh in the wrapping section. I went to Hobby Lobby, where everything was on sale. I purchased the wreath for $2.00, the mesh for $2.50, the cute little butterflies for $3.00. I went to the Dollar Store and purchased the flowers.

First, I tied the mesh all around the wreath.

Then, I tied some cute yellow polka dot ribbon around. You could add lots more
ribbon, but I just stuck with the yellow. Then I started adding in the flowers. I hot glued
the butterflies to toothpicks so they would stick up and then hot glued them in. I am pretty
happy with the way it turned out! It is definitely going to add some color to my house.

Getting In Shape

A little over a month ago I decided I have had enough of my flabby body. I started using my elliptical (that has been sitting in my basement), and the last few days I have been trying to get out and jog. I actually ran a whole mile, lol. I know that doesn't sound like a whole lot, but I was pretty excited. When I started exercising I wasn't really watching what I was eating. I have lost about 4 pounds, but I want to see more results. So yesterday I was checking out some different sites and found this great site http://caloriecount.about.com/. It is really awesome! I enter in everything that I eat and drink, and it figures everything out. I was pretty shocked to see that my 32 oz mug  of mountain dew was over 400 cal.,  and the 2 hard boiled eggs that I had (I thought it was a good choice) were way over my recommended cholesterol! Seeing all this is definitely making me change my eating and drinking habits! I am trying to stay around 1809 calories, and hopefully will be able to wear a cute swimsuit for summer!
